Oncology Massage

Essentially, a modification of existing techniques, evolved to work safely with the complications of cancer and cancer treatment.

Massage pressure, techniques and session length are adjusted according to individual needs. 
 
Treatment focuses on therapeutic touch - mostly comprising gentle, light stroking techniques for relaxation, stress and pain reduction.  Obviously, any tumour or treatment sites are avoided.

Positioning is important for maximum comfort and the duration of the treatment needs to be personalised and flexible.

Oncology massage is best performed by a therapist who has undertaken certified training in oncology massage. This training teaches the scientific and emotional aspects of working with clients managing cancer or who have a history of cancer.
